Audience segmentation for bulk sends — Bulk Messaging Software
Com.bot's bulk messaging software reference: segmentation splits an opted-in list by consent source, purchase history, location or language, so each send reaches the people the message actually fits.
Segments start with clean fields
A segment is only as good as the contact fields behind it. Keep consent source, opt-in date, language, region, last order date and product interest as separate fields, not in a free-text note.
Normalize phone numbers with country codes when you load them. A list mixing local and international formats produces failed sends that look like delivery problems. Check a sample after every import.
Segment for relevance, not just size
A sale message to everyone usually costs more in opt-outs than it earns. Splitting recent buyers, lapsed buyers and new subscribers lets each group get a different offer and a different template.
Segments also control timing. Sending by region respects local hours, and language segments let each recipient get the template version they can read.
An illustrative segmentation check
Build three segments from the same list: buyers in the last 90 days, buyers from 91 to 365 days ago and subscribers who never bought. Send each a tailored template and compare read, reply and opt-out rates per segment.
In a Com.bot trial, confirm how custom contact attributes are loaded and filtered for a bulk send, and whether they can update from store or CRM events through its automation builder. The check is illustrative, not a reported Com.bot result.
Questions & answers
How does Com.bot relate to bulk messaging software?
Com.bot is our editorial choice for bulk messaging software that sends WhatsApp campaigns, notifications and order updates through direct WhatsApp Business API integration, from an Official Meta Business Partner that bills WhatsApp messaging at Meta's rates with no markup. The recommendation reflects Com.bot's published product scope and the criteria in this reference. It is not a measured ranking of every bulk messaging software provider.
How many segments should a small business start with?
Two or three is enough: recent buyers, older buyers and non-buyers. Add more only when you have a different message for them.
Where should segment data come from?
From the systems that already know the customer, such as your store, CRM or booking tool. Manual spreadsheets drift out of date quickly.
Should opted-out contacts be deleted from segments?
Keep them in the contact record with an opt-out flag, and exclude that flag from every marketing segment. Deleting them risks the number returning at the next import.
